Faceting 101: Basic Rounds

 Dates: Saturdays: 8, 15, and 22 July 2023, from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Description: Each student will receive instruction on cutting a round gem (Simple Jack or Standard Round Brilliant) from synthetic garnet, to include preforming, dopping, cutting, and polishing.

Class fee: $450payable by credit card or PayPal when you register (see below). Materials fee
$20 for enough synthetic garnet rough for a single 10-15mm gem; payable with cash, check (made out to Eric Hoffman), Paypal, Venmo, Cashapp, or whatever gets the instructor his lunch money. The garnet will be YAG (Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) or GGG (Gadolinium Gallium Garnet). Synthetic garnet is inexpensive, but increasingly hard to find, so I reserve the right to substitute materials, and possibly adjust the materials fee if necessary.

I will have additional rough on hand if you would like to purchase additional materials to use for your second and following stones. I can also recommend other sources (as can other cutters in the Guild).

Requirements: Bring your own 10x loupe or even an Optivisor if you have one. If not, bring your pulse and something to take notes with.
