Beginning Piercing Class

Date: Saturday  December 9, 12-4 PM

Location: PLG workshop, 169 Defense Highway (lower level) Annapolis, MD.

Description:

We will be sawing patterns into sheet metal.  We will be learning basic sawing, filing and finishing on silver, brass and copper.  The patterns will be started using a drill bit and sawing out patterns while maintaining the perimeter in tact. We will also solder a simple jump ring onto the finished piece.

We will create a pendant.

Fees: Class fee: $60 ($80 for non-members), payable in cash or by check made out to the PLG. Materials fee:  Students may bring their own materials.  Otherwise, materials fees should be paid to the instructor the day of the class.  Kits will include:

22 gauge sterling silver sheet- 1.5” x 1.5”

22 gauge brass sheet – 1.5” x 1.5”

20 gauge silver wire

12 4/0 saw blades

12 2/0 saw blades

Material Pricing:          approximately $20

Tools (most of these are available during the class from the instructor)

Saw Frame

Pliers including non-marring pliers

Files

Emery paper

To register for this class: Email the instructor, Victoria Tom at lvitom@aol.com  by November 27 to reserve your place in the class. No deposit is necessary, but be prepared to pay at the start of the class. A minimum of 2 students is required for the class to run, but will be limited to 8 students. Your place will be reserved when you receive a confirmation email from the instructor.
