Broom Casting

Make Jewelry From your Scrap Metal

Dates: Sunday November 19th, 2017 From 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
We will break for a snack you bring.

Location: PLG workshop, 169 Defense Highway (lower level) Annapolis, MD.

Description:  This class is an excellent and fun way to use up the scrap metal you have from previous classes! Students will melt their scrap and make broom cast components that can be used in a similar manner as shown above. These pieces work well with PMC as shown with the rings, wire wrap as shown in a pendant and traditional soldering techniques. The images above are just samples, students will create their own jewelry design.

Class fee: $75.00, $95.00 non-member, payable in cash or by check to PLG.

Materials: Students will provide all materials, scrap silver (no copper or bronze), straw broom (remove stitching before class) gemstones or cabochons and materials needed to complete their project such as bezel, jump rings and sheet or wire. (if you do not have scrap silver and still wish to take this class please contact the instructor to make arrangements to purchase material for casting for your project.) Suitable casting material include silver scrap (not silver dust), PMC silver scrap or pieces without enamel or stones you want to repurpose, and silver wire scrap.

To register for this class: call or email the instructor, Donna Madej, 410-215-1774 or at littlewings@mdonline.net . No deposit is necessary, but be prepared to pay at the start of the class. A minimum of 3 students is required for this class to run, and class size will be limited to 8 students.  Please sign up BEFORE November 15th.
